Position 1:
Hours: 24 hours per week (schedule to be determined)
Term: September through April with possibility of continuing through August 2015
Duties: Assist SLP in coordinating shared reading program and two schools in Lachine; ensure that shared reading sessions are recorded and process audio recordings for storage and transcription; orthographic transcription of
shared reading interactions; assist with assessment of children’s narrative recall of stories
Required skills: comfort with recording devices, laptop computers and iPad devices; bachelor’s degree in psychology, linguistics or education preferred but not necessary; experience working with young children required.
Position 2:
Hours: 12 hours per week (flexible schedule)
Term: September through April
Duties: Record interactions between mothers and infants in the laboratory; code video of these interactions using Noldus (training on Noldus coding will be provided); spectral analysis of adult and infant vowel productions
extracted from the recordings.
Required skills: comfort with recording devices and acoustic analysis software; graduate training in communication sciences, linguistics or psychology required; experience working with infants and parents an asset; French-English
bilingual required.
