Vous trouverez ci-dessous le résumé de l'intervention :

16 février 2024 : Keith Murphy, ( en visio) *cette session se déroulera en anglais*

Design + Anthropology: Affinity or Friction?

Résumé
“Design anthropology” has been around as a distinct discipline for about 15 years, and has met with great success in certain contexts. But recently some scholars have begun to sense that the relationship has run its course. In this presentation I will discuss some of the advantages and limits involved in the relationship between design and anthropology, and offer some of my own views on how design and anthropology can stay productively linked.

Bio : Keith Murphy is associate professor of anthropology at the University of California, Irvine. His research interests include design, language, embodiment, and visual media. His first book explored the relationship between the design of everyday objects and social democratic politics in Sweden. The book he’s currently working on is based on longterm ethnographic research with different communities of people who, in one way or another, care for letters and writing — letterpress printers, type designers, typographers, members of the Unicode Consortium, and more. He also likes cats.

Bonne journée,

Cara
